The Russians became the first in the World Championship in swimming among the deaf

In the Polish city of Gliwice, from November 15 to 20, was held for the first time the world swimming championship in short courses among deaf athletes. It was attended by 132 athletes representing 23 countries.

The Russian team included 32 athletes from different parts of Russia, who, according to the results of their performances, took first place in the team competition. Athletes were able to win 65 medals, of which 36 were awards of the highest standard, 17 taken for second place, 12 – bronze.

Polina Bilalova, who not only became the first in six disciplines, but also set world records, showed the greatest success at the first World Short Course Swimming Championships among deaf athletes. These are 400m and 800m freestyle, 100m and 200m butterfly, 200m and 400m mixed.

Swimmer Olga Klyuchnikova won five gold medals, showing the best time in the 50-, 100-, 200-meter backstroke, in the 50-meter butterfly in the 100-meter medley.

Strong half of the national team represented by Andrey Zhivaev (3 gold, 2 silver), Vitaly Obotin (3 gold), Denis Martynenko (2 gold and 1 silver), Mark Troshin (2 gold, 1 silver) “), Alexandra Dyatlova ( 1 “gold”, 2 “silver”), Philippa Torishny (1 “gold”) made a significant contribution to the overall price treasury in the early beginnings.

According to the website of the Deaf Games Committee of Russia, these races have become a preparatory phase for the 2022 Summer Olympics for the Deaf, which will be held in Brazil from May 1 to May 15. The main beginnings of the planet among athletes with hearing impairments will take place for the 24th time.
