The European Swimming League (LEN) Bureau suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in their competitions. This was announced by the press service of the organization.

“A LEN meeting was held on Wednesday and a decision was made not to invite Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials to the event due to the situation around Ukraine until further notice. This is in line with the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee and aims to overcome the practices related to the decisions of certain countries, as well as to protect the health, safety and well-being of all athletes.

“LEN is committed to continuing its work with the International Swimming Federation (FINA) to realize our common positions and we hope for a better future,” said a statement from the European Swimming League Bureau.

Note that competitions under the auspices of LEN will not be held in Russia and Belarus until further notice.
