Kazan hosted the Russian swimming championship

In late April, the country’s best athletes found out who deserved the champion title.

The Russian swimming championship ended in Kazan. It was attended by almost 600 strongest athletes from different parts of the country. For six days, from April 24 to April 29, they discovered which of them was worthy of the champion title.

Siberian Arina Surkova won the most medals. An athlete from Novosibirsk won four gold medals. Among men, Kliment Kolesnikov became the leader in terms of the number of medals – he has the first three places.

During the championship, swimmers set five Russian records. Arina Surkova in 50 meters butterfly showed a time of 25.61 seconds, Ilya Borodin swam 400 meters mixed in 4: 09.86 minutes, Andrey Nikolaev in 50 meters chest – 26.66 seconds.

Elena Bogomolova was able to set the record for the country’s youth by swimming 50 meters in the bay for 30.40 seconds. Another youth record of the country was set by Daria Klepikova. She was able to show a time of 54.45 seconds in the 100 meters freestyle, repeating the achievement of Arina Openysheva in 2015.

According to the results of the beginnings, Maria Kameneva, who plays for the Kaluga region, turned out to be the best for points. The swimmer scored 924 points in the 50m backstroke (27.70). In the men, Kliment Kolesnikov from Moscow was the leader with 983 points for the result shown in the 50 meters backstroke (23.93), according to the website of the All-Russian Swimming Federation.
